Feeling The Love
Thank you for attending Gently, She Wakes! Wow!! We’re so grateful for your presence in a city full of entertainment options, and for all of your loving words about how important and moving this show was. There is no better reward than sharing our work with you, Austin!
Creating this show was also a lesson that conversations around female-identifying people and survivor experiences are still needed. Making social justice art requires making bold statements. If we didn’t evoke a variety of responses, it would be a sign that our work is done. In this time of rising division, hate, and threats to freedom of speech, there is no other kind of work we feel called to make. That’s why your incredible, deep support of what we do means so much to us--the love is felt!
There are tons of people to thank!
Thank you to our absolutely stunning, talented cast Kanami Nakabayashi-Timpe, Mia Moi, Lily Zapatero, ET, Lilly Wylde, Angelina de Leon, Cellise Brown, Aidan Rodgers, Bradi Nelson, and Wyntergrace Williams. Our incredibly fierce choreographic collaborators Stephanie Patrick, Wyntergrace Williams, Lisa del Rosario, and Jeffery Da’Shade Johnson. Matt Jackson, thank you for your extraordinary (and fast!) sound design. Heaven Baize-Garcia, thank you for getting every needed costume piece, and making it look impeccable.
Thank you to The SAFE Alliance, Dani Fletcher and Laramie Gorbett for repeatedly saying “yes” to this collaboration, and for being such a huge inspiration for the work. We’re grateful to the audience members who included donations to SAFE with their ticket purchase!
To our stellar crew: thank you Katy and Trent at Doghouse Productions! Y’all took our production to the next level. Casey Lee, thank you for being our Sound Engineer, and for going above and beyond. Thank you to Liam at KMFA for operating projection and becoming part of the team. Amy Myers and Mira Cook, thank you for running things backstage as our Stage Managers!
We would make art regardless of how many pennies we had, but those who funded and provided space for this work are the reason why we can maintain equitable pay rates for our artists and team. Thank you so much to the City of Austin Economic Development Department, The Creative Fund, East Side Performing Arts, Beverly Bajema, Heather & Reed Arnos, and more. Your support is essential.
Thank you Sarah Navarrete for capturing our show so beautifully. If you’re looking for high quality dance photography in Austin, you have found her! Thank you Greg Burton for our poster design! Your creativity and connection to the work keeps us coming back for more.
We couldn’t have done it without our front-of-house team led by Kristine Patrick and Lisa del Rosario. Thank you Tikiri Shapiro and Bethany Logan for bartending, and to our FOH volunteers Jordan Miller, Aubrey Turner, Rina Saporsantos, Benjie Dia, and Anna Bauer.
Thank you to the volunteers who helped with the significant task of moving and installing flooring: Greg Burton, Daniel Broxton, Jairus Carr, Andre Bradford, and Dan & Kristine Patrick. Y’all are STRONG, and essential to our production!
Thank you to Stacey, Scarlett, Liam, and the KMFA team for having us. It was wonderful to perform in such a beautiful space!
Thank you to Siobhan Cook and Kathleen Fletcher for your unyielding support of this vision—you made it richer and more whole.
Early Era staff, you make this little world of ours continue to spin! Thank you, Lily Zapatero and Maddy Leitner for your rock-solid support. Thank you to Stephanie Donahue at Hullabaloo Communications for joining our team for this show, and helping us spread the word about the show! We are so grateful to CBS Austin’s We Are Austin and Morning News programs, and The Austin Chronicle for your incredible features of our production.
Thank you to our Board of Directors Lisa del Rosario, Earl McGehee, and Krista Robinson for all of the services and support you offer to Early Era.
Our local business community made us feel the love! Thank you to DrinkWell and Jessica Sanders and Good Night Loving Vodka for donating delicious cocktails for our audience members. To our business sponsors, the raffle prizes were a hit! Thank you Ginger Root Health & Wellness, Mint Salon, Aurora House, Sahara Lounge, Cute Nail Studio, Vive Perspective Jewelry, Blackfeather Vintage, Sagebrush Yoga, and Lovestone Esthetics for making our audience members feel loved and pampered.
Emotional support is imperative when making art about tough subjects and personal experiences. Thank you to Greg Burton, Dan & Kristine Patrick, Teresa Russell, Heather Arnos, Kathleen Fletcher, Kathryn Austin, and Siobhan Cook for your immense support.
To the Austin dance community members who offered resources – Dorothy Overbey, A.J. Garcia-Rameau, Allysen Hooks, Rachel Culver, and Daniel Broxton – we appreciate you helping this vision come to life!
Again, thank you to our audiences for choosing to spend your evening with us. Your laughs, tears, and statements of support are why we do this. Thank you, and we hope to see you at our next show in early 2026!!
